I push open the door, and there it is.
The snowball smashes against my face. When I open my eyes, he hasn't changed at all. He has the same hazel eyes and golden-brown fluffy hair that I always envied, and he is a bit taller than me now.
"You were supposed to die!" he yells, laughing. I know he's referring to the game we used to play in which we died by shooting each other with snowballs.
"We are not alone in the war, darling." Ha ha!" He creates that fake laugh that used to irritate me.
I smile at him, and then another snowball lands on my face, but not from Diego. Isabella laughs at me. It's the same loud laugh.
"Come on, guys!" I chuckle.
"Are you not going to kill us back?" That's fantastic, because after you skipped four Christmases, we had a splendid idea for killing you!" Diego mocks me. They are mad at me.
"Are you even paying attention?" Isabella questions me.
"Yeah, it just takes me a while to process so much stupidity at once." I try not to laugh or taunt Diego in return.
"Thank God!" "I just thought you were muted for a minute!" Diego responded, but he didn’t stop the habit of insulting everyone in a fun way.
They haven’t changed at all. Diego hugs me and then Isabella.
"So?" "How are you guys doing?" I stutter.
"Well, we're fine, but where were you for four years?" Isabella asks me.
"It’s a long story."
"So, you tricked me into thinking you were dead for 4 years." "I have time." Diego murmurs.
"I'll tell you the whole story another day, but where is Aurora?" "Is she okay?" I ignore him and switch the subject.
"Yes, she's in the hospital; she'll probably be discharged today," Isabella replies. It makes me feel better. A lot.
"Ugh, guys, I have to leave." "My mom told me to do the chores, and I haven't done anything; the house is a mess." Isabella rushes to her house. I remember it being only four houses away from ours.
"That explains why you're single!" Diego screams as she runs.

Diego and I decide to take a walk through the town, and he annoys the heck out of me.
"You have a girlfriend there," he asks.
"What? No! absolutely not!"
"Yeah dude, chill; you didn’t have to freak that out." "It makes me more suspicious about you, haha."
"Please stop that laugh; it makes you look like an idiot."
"I am one, don’t you think?" He smirks at me, making me cringe.
"You are a psychopath, Diego."
"I prefer creative," he says again.
"Do you have a girlfriend?" I hesitate to ask
"Of course, I am not an ugly jerk like you, who is single."
"I hate you."
"Why? I’m lovely. "You hate me because girls like me more, haha," now that was a real laugh; he didn’t lie though. I always envied him and his beauty. Aurora, on the other hand, used to claim I looked better than him.
"At the very least, I have more brain cells than you." I taunt him.
"Shut up, dude!" "When I say I'm hot, you always take off your nerdy things." He sighs and rolls his eyes.
"Jesus Christ! "You guys haven’t changed and still argue right now," a girl’s voice calls; it's Isabella.
"Oh, c'mon, Isa, I like messing his head up." "Especially during the winter, he turns red when he is angry." Diego laughs
"Wait really?" I am confused. All this time I thought I looked like a hot guy with blue eyes, but in real life I looked like a red tomato.
"You have an entire life to be a jerk, Diego; at least take a day off today." Isabella sighs
"Why?" "Did someone die?" Diego laughs
"Look at that negativity coming from you," I mocked him.
"I learned from you," Diego says with a wink. I don’t want to hate him, but he has been my best friend.
"We are going to Aurora's house; let's go," Isabella sighs.
Aurora.
I would love to meet her.
